Hi. My name is Poptasi. I’m a designer. Welcome to my site. Let me tell you something about me…

I was born in Amsterdam in 1971. And from the very first moment my little fingers could hold on to a pencil i’ve been drawing. Thanks to my parents i still have some ‘creations’ from back then. After high school i studied Information Technology at the HBO in Utrecht. But obviously that wasn’t my thing. In stead of studying i was making roughs for a Bounty (yes, the candy bar) contest. And guess what? I won two prices! Okay… they were only Bounty towels, but still. It was clear to me that i should do more with my creativity. So i went to the Academy for Art Direction and Design in Amsterdam. That was clearly my thing.

In the third and last year of the academy (1993), our class was invited to work for a newspaper on a new festival concept called Megafestatie. Philips (yes the Dutch brand) had a design contest during this five-day-event. I had to work whole day on the newspaper, but i found some time in the evening to put a rough idea on a piece of paper. And guess what? The next day, this rough idea made me the winner! Yay! But it gets worse! Coz the next day i couldn’t resist participating again with the contest. Coz i had another idea that popped into my mind. And i won again! Double yay!

I got the name Poptasi in 1995. It’s the combination of ‘pop art’ and ‘fantasy’. I get my inspiration from pop art and japanese cartoons. In 2005 i started my company Poptasi Industry. And since then it has grown to a small scale international known label.
