The story of EEB

This is the story of EEB, the Evil Easter Bunny. I hear you wondering, why is an Easter bunny evil? The answer is simple. Coz his treats are too delicious to resist. This is his story: EEB the Easter bunny wasn’t always evil. Nooo. Things that made EEB a bit… different.

The first thing was, that EEB loves sweet treats. I guess you do too. I know I do. But EEB loves sweet treats a bit more. A bit a lot. A bit too much. Way too much. Actually EEB is obsessed with sweets. The one thing that was always on his mind… sweets. Or actually, there were two things on his mind. Sweet treats and… ears. Literally on his mind. Huge ears. Bunny ears. Bunny ears? Yeah, bunny ears. EEB was a sucker for bunny ears. Don’t leave home without them. Wherever EEB went, so did his bunny ears.

EEB wasn’t always EEB

Becoz EEB was so crazy for sweets, whenever he was around it was always a feast. EEB became popular. They gave him a special feast named, Easter. But did you know that EEB wasn’t always EEB? Nooo. EEB used to be ED. But the one tiny little problem was, that ‘Easter Dummy’ did not sound as cool as ‘Easter Bunny’. That is how Ed became EB. Sweet little EB. So what happened?

Two things were always on his mind: Sweets and bunny ears.

EB always made sweets. He was so generous that he always gave sweet treats to everyone. And everyone loved them. But the one thing EB couldn’t do, was stop. The sweets, the treats. The ears went on and on. EB always enjoyed his treats as much as the people did. But slowly the people started changing. They started to grow. They became bigger and bigger. But EB didn’t.

They became cranky

How come? Since EB was always busy baking, he never grew. Not an inch. The people started noticing. And they didn’t like it. While they grew, EB only became smaller. At least, to them he did. They asked him how it was possible. You eat sweet treats as much as we do, but you don’t seem to change. EB did not know the answer.

Meanwhile the people kept on eating his sweets. Nom nom nom. Until… when their sugar rush was gone, they became cranky. They actually wanted more and more. But they didn’t want to grow bigger.

EEB was called evil

They started to talk bad about EB. Real bad. They blamed him for the unwanted side effect. In time they started cursing him. EB was called evil. He was no longer wanted. But then again they still wanted his sweets. Big dilemma. With the emphasis on big. This is how evil EB became EEB. And EEB made a radical decision. 

No one has ever seen him again

EEB left. He disappeared. No one knows where EEB went. No one has ever seen him again. But he did solve their ‘BIG’ problem. Coz although he vanished. His sweet treats didn’t. They pop up every now and then. And when they do, it is a big feast again. It is all becoz of the Evil Easter Bunny. Becoz of EEB. Happy Easter!

Republic of the Philippines

The Philippines,[f] officially the Republic of the Philippines,[g] is an archipelagic country in Southeast Asia. In the western Pacific Ocean, it consists of 7,641 islands, with a total area of 300,000 square kilometers,[17] which are broadly categorized in three main geographical divisions from north to south: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The Philippines is bounded by the South China Sea to the west, the Philippine Sea to the east, and the Celebes Sea to the south. It shares maritime borders with Taiwan to the north, Japan to the northeast, Palau to the east and southeast, Indonesia to the south, Malaysia to the southwest, Vietnam to the west, and China to the northwest. It is the world’s twelfth-most-populous country, with diverse ethnicities and cultures. Manila is the country’s capital, and its most populated city is Quezon City. Both are within Metro Manila.

Climate

The Philippines has a tropical maritime climate which is usually hot and humid. There are three seasons: a hot dry season from March to May, a rainy season from June to November, and a cool dry season from December to February. The southwest monsoon (known as the habagat) lasts from May to October, and the northeast monsoon (amihan) lasts from November to April: 24–25  The coolest month is January, and the warmest is May.

Temperatures at sea level across the Philippines tend to be in the same range, regardless of latitude; average annual temperature is around 26.6 °C (79.9 °F) but is 18.3 °C (64.9 °F) in Baguio, 1,500 meters (4,900 ft) above sea level.[266] The country’s average humidity is 82 percent.24–25  Annual rainfall is as high as 5,000 millimeters (200 in) on the mountainous east coast, but less than 1,000 millimeters (39 in) in some sheltered valleys (wikipedia.com). What is the best and the worst cookie of Thailand..? Travel with me to find out. My hunt for Thai cookies started in October 2024. I arrived in Bangkok. Then travelled to the island Koh Samui. From there I went to Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Koh Phi Phi and Ao Nang in Krabi. Ready for Cookie Hunting Thailand.

Cookies of Thailand

To find typical Thai cookies wasn’t easy. I mean, there are plenty of pastry shops. But most of them are owned by foreign investors. Thus foreign bakers or pastry chefs. Croissants, Brioches, Danish, Paris-Brest, and even macarons. Not many, but still. The quality I found was fantastic. But like I said, they were not traditional Thai bakeries.

7-Eleven is everywhere

You can find 7-Eleven everywhere in Thailand. They are popular by travellers. Because besides supermarket products you can get easy hot meals and drinks. But they have pastry too. Not all shops have the same selection. But if you’re lucky their shelves offer plenty to choose from. Cheese cake, chocolate cake, lava cake. Some even have macarons. The quality of their pastry is actually pretty good. And it’s really cheap.

If you go to 7-Eleven you have to try their Cheese cake. I like it the most. The Chocolate- and lava cake I liked too. I wasn’t a big fan of their Crepes cake. But their macarons weren’t even that bad.

Thai French Pastry Koh Phangan

I met a French pastry chef on Koh Phangan island. He was a true traditional French pastry chef. He had a small but cosy shop. When I entered his shop, his vitrine was almost empty. But the chef assured me it would be filled tomorrow again. He told me to come back tomorrow.

He did have macarons though. Three flavours. When I told him that I’m a pastry chef too specialised in French macarons, he immediately gave me one to try. A yellow lemon one.

To be honest, the macaron was a bit dry. To me it was an old macaron. So I asked the chef tactically when these were made. Tactically he answered with many words, without telling me the date.

He also had Paris Brest in his vitrine. I had to try it. It was delicious. Altho to my taste there was a bit too much cream compared to the pastry. But hey, that’s me.

The next day I went back. To try his freshly baked products. I tried his strawberry tartelet and a chocolate one. They were quite simple but very delicious!

Thai French Market Koh Tao

On the island of Koh Tao I met a French pastry chef owning two shops. One was The French Market. Which had several shops combined. The other was Croissant&Ko. I visited them both.

If you are in one of the shops you forget that you are in Thailand. They look so modern and great. I tried several different things. All of them were delicious. Definitely a place to check out if you’re on Koh Tao. One tip: go after 16:00. Because they have Happy Hour. Meaning you get two pastries for the price of one!

Pastry on Koh Phi Phi

Koh Phi Phi is a mega touristic island. The more touristic the more difficult it is to find local pastry. But hey, local also means the kind of cookies and pastry I find on the spot. So far I’ve only found pastry at the 7-Eleven. There are so many of them here.

The Kingdom of Norway

Norway, formally the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic country in Northern Europe, situated on the Scandinavian Peninsula. Climate

Because of the Gulf Stream and prevailing westerlies, Norway experiences higher temperatures and more precipitation than expected at such northern latitudes, especially along the coast. The mainland experiences four distinct seasons, with colder winters and less precipitation inland.

The northernmost part has a mostly maritime Subarctic climate, while Svalbard has an Arctic tundra climate. The southern and western parts of Norway, fully exposed to Atlantic storm fronts, experience more precipitation and have milder winters than the eastern and far northern parts. Areas to the east of the coastal mountains are in a rain shadow, and have lower rain and snow totals than the west. The lowlands around Oslo have the warmest summers, but also cold weather and snow in wintertime.

The sunniest weather is along the south coast, but sometimes even the coast far north can be very sunny – the sunniest month with 430 sun hours was recorded in Tromsø.[97][98] Because of Norway’s high latitude, there are large seasonal variations in daylight.

From late May to late July, the sun never completely descends beneath the horizon in areas north of the Arctic Circle, and the rest of the country experiences up to 20 hours of daylight per day. Climate

Mauna Kea has an alpine climate. Due to the influence of its tropical latitude, temperature swings are very low. Frosts are common year round, but the average monthly temperature remains above freezing throughout the year. Snow may fall at an altitude of 11,000 ft (3,353 m) and above in any month, but occurs most often from October to April.

Climate

The Maldives has a tropical monsoon climate (Am) under the Köppen climate classification, which is affected by the large landmass of South Asia to the north. Because the Maldives has the lowest elevation of any country in the world, the temperature is constantly hot and often humid.

The presence of this landmass causes differential heating of land and water. These factors set off a rush of moisture-rich air from the Indian Ocean over South Asia, resulting in the southwest monsoon. The shift from the dry northeast monsoon to the moist southwest monsoon occurs during April and May. During this period, the southwest winds contribute to the formation of the southwest monsoon, which reaches the Maldives at the beginning of June and lasts until the end of November. However, the weather patterns of the Maldives do not always conform to the monsoon patterns of South Asia.

The annual rainfall averages 254 centimetres (100 in) in the north and 381 centimetres (150 in) in the south.[99][98] The monsoonal influence is greater in the north of the Maldives than in the south, more influenced by the equatorial currents.
